How Would You Improve Roberts Field?

A Master Plan for park-wide improvements is being created by the Roberts Field Improvement Committee, including an exploration of new features.  This community-driven process will include feedback and direction from residents and park users.  A park improvement survey was conducted (survey results here), and a public input session was held on February 1, 2016 and can be viewed here.

The engineering and planning firm Howard Stein Hudson (HSH) was hired by the Town to prepare the Master Plan (view their proposal here) and expects to have a draft completed by Spring 2016 to be presented at a public input session.  At a 4/14/16 meeting, HSH presented a Roberts Field “Concept Plan Alt 1” (link to plan image) that includes a new playground, picnic pavilion, potential restroom, walking track and expanded parking.  During the plan presentation, areas were identified for possible other new features such as a bocce ball court, basket ball court and splash pad, pending the Committee’s input.

There has been no Roberts Field Improvement Committee meetings held since 4/14/16.  This website will be updated if a meeting is scheduled.  As of 9/19/16, there is a vacancy on the Roberts Field Improvement Committee and anyone interested in joining the Committee should contact the Chelmsford Town Manager.
